Hey all, wanted to let you know about a weird thing I found on 4chan’s /x/ board. The original post is gone now, but it was talking about this company Comet Holdings that does a bunch of vacation rentals in remote locations. They leaked some documents that showed that Comet was a front for some really sketchy alien type shit! I saved some screenshots that I’ll post below

So as you can see, there’s this comet that comes through Nauvoo Illinois every few decades. Depending on who you listen to, it either drives you insane or it grants you immortality. And Comet Holdings came in and bought up a few places in town that were super-run down. Like, terrible real estate deals. It would be considerably easier to just build a new place a quarter of a mile away. Better views, closer to town, less legal hassle. But they bought this specific place that really cooks my noodle. The Tandara Treehouse. I guess it was supposed to be the center of some weird local history. It was deeded to this old lady for (as far as I can tell) almost 200 years. Then Comet bought it off of her estate, chased out some feral kids that had taken up there, and turned it into an Airbnb.

That’s what I figured at first, but there’s photocopies of her deed in the 1800s but also a copy of it from 1940 or something. Like, it was under her name and not her estate’s name for a crazy long time. I was looking around for birth and death records but I couldn’t find anything.

This is all fascinating! It makes me think of early Sumerian myths, where comets were considered to be messengers of the gods. People avoided looking at them as they went past, because they figured they’d drive you insane if you stared at them. Rude to stare, I guess

I know there’s some Native American beliefs about comets and people becoming Empty Ones if they encounter them in the wrong way. But some Nepalese belief systems think there’s a type of rejuvenating effect as well. Do you trade in your sanity for youth or something? What’s up with that?

Essentially all the Sumerian myths involve someone encountering the comet while they’re alone – they’re kind of surprised by it. Unfortunately, no description of these people’s long lifespans – becoming crazy back then was a bit of a death sentence on its own.

I believe the Nepalese would all gather together inside the temple and meditate. Perhaps its the meditation, or perhaps some sort of imagery inside the temple. Or maybe it’s the being together. But I wasn’t aware of any rejuvenating effect.

“Rejuvenating” might be the wrong word for it. But it was my understanding that during these events, the head monks would enter some sort of Inner Sanctum, away from the rest of the congregation, and meditate alone in search of eternal life.

So being caught alone turns you insane, but meditating alone grants you immortality? That seems oddly simple. There’s not something else one needs to prepare?
